I have an oval shaped face and I feel my hairstyle doesn't let my facial features glow in a way. Would medium length hair with layers look good or long straight hair with a fringe?

Whatever you do don't talk about a feathered look when you go to the salon. That is like the old lady style thing where they make your hair really really short on top and then come down in the back. No one under 60 wears it anymore.

As far as your face I'd say long hair would be best because your face is already longer. You could do the layer look or you could ask them to cut the hair the same length and then go back through with a razor blade to give the hair a little bit of texture at the end. My stylist does that with my layers and it gives it a much softer look.

To be honest, as long as she would consistently wash, condition and brush/comb it, I wouldn't give a crap about the rest.

I think that when she was taking care of her hair, it looks good in different textures (straight, wavy and curly), but I think I liked it wavy the best.

As for the color, I do sometimes think it's too much of a yellow blonde, so some sort of brown, like a chocolate shade would look nice.

You might want to try to get a condensed perm. It is a perm where you only use about 12 rods all over your head. It gives you that nice uneven natural curl. Unfortunately, if your hair is medium length, a spiral perm might not make much of a difference than a regular perm. The weight of your hair will pull down the curl and it will look like a regular perm. I have gotten both and didn't really notice a difference. But I did notice a difference with the condensed perm. All they have to do is put as much hair as they can on the largest perm rod that they can get. Then just use regular perm solution, and apply it like a regular perm. Good luck and hope this helps.

eww.. that hair looked caked in hair spray and stringy.... but if thats the look you want.... I would NOT get a perm... I would imagine scrunching your hair wioth some mousse and hair spray and blow dry while scrunching would work fine..and be less damage to your hair...

Yes, any beauty parlor can do that. there are some home operms like olglevie that works too. your hair isn't too short, but your hair wont look exactly like thise because hers is longer.

Even a "loose" spiral perm will still have too tight of a curl for that style. I know this b/c I've had one before. You might want to try curling it yourself, then picking the curls out with your fingers. Spray it with flexible hairspray, so it'll stay, but have movement. Or if you have a little natural curl, you can use gel and scrunch it while blow drying it. Good luck, whatever you decide to do! :)

Why not try lo-lights? They look awesome with brown hair. Also, with hi-lights you'll want to make sure the color being used isn't an ash blonde, that could cause the coppery color for some people, also don't use anything that says 'golden' because that will make it coppery also. Tell your stylist(if you're using one) you do not want anything that will turn it coppery and ask for options. Platinum would be very, very light, almost a white color so beware of that!

and yeah, I definately don't recommend bleach at all.. it'll damage your hair in about a week but I have heard about something called "Hennah" it depends on how long you leave it inyour hair, like... 45 minutes will probably make it blonde .. 25minutes most likely would change it to redish orange.. Any way. try asking any arabic person...they'll know where to get it.

Also you can use lemon juice then sit in the sun.... makes nice highlights but would take ages to color all your hair!!!!

Well i think i can help...i have pretty wavy/curly hair myself so here's my thoughts:

i don't think theres just one perfect hair style for curly or wavy hair. i like mine layered and with side bangs and it works just fine without having to straiten them everyday...so ya u can wear ur bangs curly...and i would keep ur hair at medium to long because if u have curly hair and u cut it short its most likely going to become bushy and even more curly than it was before.

A very current look is to bleach strands to white (frosting,) then use an all over color to create a harmonious effect. You can even use two different colors, one on top of your hair and one on the underneath hair, for a lighter-to-darker effect. Well it all really depends on what shade of skin you have... Are you olive toned, fair, medium... It all matters... But Blondes and Auburn shades tend to be good colours for almost everyone... And I think that it would be beautiful with that haircut.

2)mix it with hair conditioner, about half the amount of the lemon juice.

3) put it all over your hair evenly or wherever you want the highlights. Put enough in you hair so your hair would feel moist.

4) go out in the sun and let your hair dry in the sun for couple of hours.

5) depending on the shade of your hair, it would vary the color on how bright your hair will be.

6) wash out your hair with shampoo and conditioner, and blow dry hair completely to see the difference.

6) if it doesn't work that well, do it daily and you will see a difference.

Side effects:

the bad thing about doing this is that your hair would become damaged and fried from the sun. Maybe not a lot but it will be a bit damaged. So you would probably want to use conditioner daily. I recommend Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioner.

squeeze a couple of lemons into a bowl, use a sponge or cloth to dampen your hair with it, the acid in the juice will react when you sit out in the sun with it in your hair, and you'll have subtle high lights if you do this a few times. this works great if the lemon juice is really concentrated. you can squeeze your own or buy the plastic lemons full of lemon-juice concentrate at your local grocery store [very inexpensive]

if you can't get in the sun for very long [half an hour or so]

try a blowdryer. there's also this stuff called 'Sun-In' and it's the same concept, you spray it on your hair and sit in the sun, it gives you a lighter shade in your hair.

If you were seriously about dying it from home, you would have to buy a kit from your local drugstrore (cvs rite ad target walgreens etc) Theyre a special kit for how blonde you wanna go, your hair color so on and so forth. But can i be honest? I did the box thing for so many years and nothing compares to getting your hair professionally high lighted by a trained stylist. Its a little more pricely (usally around 60 dollars) but its SO worth it. Its one thing if youre thinking about going a couple shades darker, but lightening is so much more difficult to achieve the color you want at home. Not only achieving the color you want, but more difficult period. But if its not something for you (going to a salon for professional highlights) just make sure your buying a bleach product -bleach is what lightens your hair- and use the "cap" some dyes come with a cap and i would recommend using it because its easier to get the full head of even highlights that way. As far as doing it on your own, I was always told to use a clarifying shampoo or one that's specifically for body/volume -- they both tend to fade color rather quickly. If you want it to fade quickly, you should wash your hair at least twice a day but make sure to use a conditioner too so it doesn't dry out. That's because I've been wanting to get it to fade quickly. But again, always use a good conditioner so it doesn't dry out.

Use a bronzer of somekind of make that will mkae you look sort of tanned around the T-ZONE Cheeks, a bit on the nose and chin.If you already have a light skin tone use a blush that make you aware that you are NOT pale. As long as you can see a color insted of Pale then its fine. Hope that helps!

If you have pale skin, i would really advise not dying your hair black- as you will look like mortisha from the adams family. I was like you and didnt listen to people and dyed my hair black and it just drains colour from you and really makes you look like death. If your skin is not pale and is darker or tanned it should be fine. Another option would be using fake tan- i found that dove everyday body lotion is the best and with that you can build your level of tan gradually. Hope this helps x

i have medium brown hair too and my natural colour is like a mousy brown colour nearing blonde. However, a year ago i dyed my hair black and it really does make you look too pale. You would probably have to use a bronzer to give your face a little more colour and to help it blend in with your hair. People with olive coloured skin tend to be suited best to darker hair. However, if you want to experiment then go for it, theres no harm in trying, the colour won't last forever

Hi I say go ahead and do it, I am really pale and have light hair normally, but I went ahead and did it and people said it really suited me, and I though it brought out more colour in me as the redness in my skin came out more. You can always get a semi permenant dye and see if you like it, plus if you use these in the furture then it will keep your hair from getting damaged, it will take a while to get used to it being so dark but it wont look horrible but the best thing it will shine like glass its beautiful I might do mine again actually.

I do hair shows for different product companies and my favorite is OSMO ESSENCE. It's a new and upcoming LONDON hair products that aren't in the U.S. quite yet, BUT!! If you go to www.google.com look up BUY OSMO ESSENCE I would defintely get the SEA MATTE and you use that on wet or dry hair and its really great for stylizing and strenghtening hair. Blow dry your hair forward and kind of train it to go forward. These products smell amazing! Another product would be the stylizing GLUE type product that you would use at the end to kind of perfect your look!

If you don't want to order these ones, just use any BEDHEAD GLUE and that should help with the styling too!

Usually I would have to know what type of hair you have. Since I am a Black female I would get what is called a relaxer which would straighten my hair to better manage it. If your hair is the opposite of mine, and curly the process is different. In a good salon it would cost me about 30 to 40 dollars. If you get xtras like conditioners, trim it's a bit more. The relaxer would usually last me about 4 to 6 weeks.

Why not get yourself a really good ceramic hair straightener?

There are some great ones out there. Look up the Sedu Hair Straightener. The price range is from $100-$130, something like that. That is alot for a straightener, but it comes with a warranty and alot of stylists prefer the Sedu. It works on all types of hair.

It will take you more time to do it everyday, but in the end you will have saved money and your hair won't be damaged from the hair straightening chemicals.

If you can't afford a Sedu, get a cheaper one like a Conair, its what I use now until I can afford the Sedu. I can't live without it!

Anyway, if you do decide for one, make sure it's ceramic.

I figure since I STILL HAVE my hair (with very little gray), contemplating this topic in another 10 years may not be an option. The question I have is whether it would be considered unprofessional (as a licensed, practicing physician) if I were to proceed with this? If it's well done I see no reason why not (apart from the fact that colour treatments aren't great for your hair). If it's badly done it could be very bad news: think about how you judge guys you see who have bad hair colour treatments (and be honest with yourself). In your role you need to be credible when you talk to patients and anything which makes them feel less confident about dealing with you could have knock on consequences you might rather avoid. I guess the trick is to find a decent stylist who you trust and maybe to start gently at first.

You can change your hair damatically just by parting it in different places. Try splitting your hair up into two parts (front and back) Line up the seperating line even with your ears. The back of your hair should point back and you can even put it up in a pony tail to get it out ofthe way while you're working with the rest of it. The front: You'll take a brush or a comb (this works best when wet or with a lot of hair spray) and flip the front half from the corner of one eye all the way over the top of your head to the other side. You could straighten it so the layers are all choppy looking

or blow dry it upside down it gives LOADS of volume

or if you dont want to use anything that requires heat you could try the wet look ( it never really worked for me but its cute on everyone else)

Hey I know exactly how you feel, for my hair i put in streaks of red and blonde color but if you don't want to do a perminant or professional job then you can just straighten your hair one day curl another and maybe even scrunch another day. For makeup you can get covergirl concealer (powder) it works really nice and for a simple look you can put on like 2 coats of mascara. Do all this only if you feel comfortable and never for anyone else.

well makeup isn't really that good for you.when i was in 9th grade all i used was eye liner and eyeshadow. nothing else. as for the hair, dont straighten it too much b/c ur hair will get damagedd. you should just do half-up half down, messy ponytails, buns, curl it, scrunch it, etc. good luck!

just have lots of clips ready to get the hair out of the way that you don't want to dye, etc. Home is fine, a friend is a good idea because sometimes it's nice to have three hands to help hold hair and stuff. When you rinse, make sure to rinse the dye out away from the hair you aren't dying, to avoid bleeding.

I would go with professional products from a beautician supply store. I highly recommend L'oreor Super Blue bleaching kit. As you already have a blonde shade , you can use a low level developer (less damaging, a 40 lift developer should do just fine for you) and be sure to add at least one tube of RGC (red gold corrector) to insure that all traces of red tones will be eliminated and you will have that translucent/platinum look you desire.

The cost of all the supplies and "ingredients" will be around $25, but will give you the same results as a salon. In a salon you are paying mostly for the hairdressers salary, their education, the rent on the salon space, etc. Save a bundle and do it at home.

I would suggest Preference Ultra Light Ash Blonde.

Try this colour on a piece of hair behind the ear first. Should this result in the desired shade then you have your colour.
